The very first Out of Sight Out of Mind took place in 2013. Several individual artists and groups came together to create a provocative exhibition in a unique space, The Small Animal Hospital within Summerhall. We had approximately 20-30 people with lived experience of mental health issues exhibiting work and we had approximately 600 visitors attend the exhibition. The very first Out of Sight Out of Minds’ poster was designed by Michael Dawson in 2013. Taking inspiration from the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival annual theme, which, for this year was ‘reality’.
