Blanket Fort is an ongoing community art project facilitated by disabled, non-binary artist CL Gamble. Facing a change in direction after developing chronic pain and fatigue, C began studying art as a mature student, using creativity as a cathartic way of exploring the challenges they’ve experienced diagnosed with ADHD & Autism.
C works with the concept of “artistic anarchy” – making art a collective experience, accessible and empowering, which crosses boundaries between media and transgresses traditional ideas about the art world. Referencing comfort blankets, Scouts/Guides achievement badges and defensive military forts, the project aims to amplify individual voices coming together in resistance, celebration and compassion towards ourselves.
