Self Portrait

by Jamie King

Jamie has been painting self-portraits for a long time. During lockdown he did them regularly. This is one of the most recent ones and he can see a painterly improvement from previous years.

He paints in an anarchic and naïve fashion to start with, but after a few days the painting takes on a more mature form.

Like everyone else, during the pandemic he has had to adapt to restrictions. This has been challenging for Jamie due to his schizophrenia. He has found painting to be a conduit to feeling calm.
