Lava Lamped 2022
By alansabstract2021
I first started experimenting with art 2017. My life was in a very low mental state and I was isolating at home. Frequently, the abstract art I created back then was a coping mechanism, it was raw and interesting. It has helped me manage my mood to a more positive mindset. This was all before my ADHD and Autism diagnosis (2021/2023).
I am now gaining a sense of calm and a feeling of being accomplished at something in my life, with this amazing zero waste art that has developed. Over the years it’s been a way of giving back to my community and giving me a feeling of purpose.
Using materials I have to hand, to create amazing abstract art, trying not to waste paint or use stretch canvas, opting for plastics (saved from Former Debenhams store), laminated wood boards, masking tape, window squidgy. This is my way of keeping my art from decomposing or tearing. Working with acrylic paint, LED strip lights (pat tested), older light fixtures I use for my lamps and sometimes neon paint for a more sensory effects. I often use blown up balloons or a swipe technique for a more impactive effect.
