Rowan Alba was created in Edinburgh in 2004 to deliver a range of strategically designed services with the shared aim of preventing homelessness through a compassionate, non-judgmental approach.

Penumbra Milestone is a partnership with NHS Lothian, City of Edinburgh Council (Department of Health and Social Care) and Waverley Care. The emphasis in the unit is to maintain capacity to reduce delay in acute hospitals whilst providing an environment conducive to rehabilitation and recovery from the patient’s cognitive impairment.        

Rowan Alba and Penumbra Milestone enjoy working in partnership with the National Galleries of Scotland and they meet monthly at the Portrait Gallery

We took inspiration for this work from a definition of personal revolution: a turn around of a predominant way of thinking or doing things to better yourself. Your personal revolution is that definitive change; when you decide that you want that freedom to be who you really are! and used mirror tiles as a base to think about self-reflection.
