IN PERSION:

Light Us Up in Neon Armour, with Lynn Fraser

Wednesday 20 October, 6:30-8pm

(Santosa Wellness Centre, 21 Albert Street, Leith, Edinburgh, EH7 5LH).

Artist Lynn Fraser (Mrs Fantoosh) leads this arm-painting workshop, in relation to the menopause.

A hopeful journey to improved self-expression and self care (when words are often hard to find) In a gentle return to connecting with ourselves and each other, we will explore our mental well-being in relation to the menopause creating and sharing together.

During part of this session there will be an invitation to paint on another participant's arm, and in return have your arm painted by them.

We would like everyone to feel safe, have awareness and to have ease and choice around this. So please note: Painting on someone, or being painted on is optional. If you do not wish to be in close contact with another person you can paint on your own arms. We will be adhering to current guidelines on face coverings for everyones comfort.

Please do wear a vest top or short sleeved top as we will be working with lovely body safe paint on arms. The bodypaint can simply be washed off later.

Lynn looks forward to meeting participants and asks that they bring only an open heart and the permission to play! Everything else is provided for the session.

This workshop is for a small group of up to 8 participants. If you book and subsequently can't make it, please contact Lynn to let her know so she can pass your space to someone else.

This workshop is free and open to anyone currently navigating the menopause on their journey through life.

ONLINE:

Blackout Poetry Workshop, with CL Gamble

Sunday 24 October, 2-3pm

Join OOSOOM exhibitor CL Gamble in this session where we will create poetry from widely available printed materials to give them a new sense of meaning. Reclaim, re-frame and retrain your brain into "reading between the lines" and make short poems.

Before the session, please have to hand a selection of materials:

  • Some paper which already has text on it, such as magazines, letters, mail outs etc.

  • Pens, pencils and/or markers

We will look at different methods of selecting words to leave visible or cross out as well as some of the ways artists have played with similar ideas in the past.

No skills required!

These poses will be related to her artwork at the exhibition which explores the need to feel secure in whatever space we are contained in. Whether we are at home, displaced or detained.

This event is also in recognition of Black History month.
