Expressing Emotions in Art 1

Six of us came together on Tuesday (17th November 2020) to take part in the online expressing emotions through art workshop.

We chose a particular situation and emotion to focus on that we wanted to express artistically. We went through some prompts to help us name the emotion and describe it, then we got more creative and started imagining what the colour, shape, weather, or landscape that the emotion would look like, among other prompts. We spent some time making some art in our own spaces, then came back together to show what we had made and discuss how we found the process.

Some of the attendees have been kind enough to share what they created, which can be seen below.

It was a really enjoyable session and we found it helpful to think about these feelings in a different way. Some people spoke about how going through this process helped them to understand things about their feelings that they hadn’t noticed before, and others were surprised at the final image they created, which they wouldn’t have predicted at the start of the workshop.

We will be running the workshop again next Tuesday 24th November at the same time of 2pm – 4pm, and you can book on the events page of the website. We would love for you to join us next week.
