We all have mental health. Good, bad, in between - it affects us all. In sharing through art, we can explore our own thoughts and feelings, joys, and sorrows. And when we can share this with others, our stories and struggles are seen and understood. What a lovely exhibition!
So diverse.
So real.
Can relate.
Inspired to do something next year.
Freedom, purpose, and accessibility for all!!
Mental health is human, we all deserve to be heard! <3 <3
Thank you.
Perhaps I know only a little of what it is to suffer from some “out of sight out of mind” illness. But I know enough to know that for the person themselves it is lived in sight and in mind every day.
So, it is good that I have seen this work and to let others see too feels very important.
I’m inspired by the strength, creativity, courage and diversity of the work.
Here’s to your 10th anniversary next year.
Thank you for a very thought-provoking exhibition :)
Just wanted to say that we all really enjoyed the exhibition. Well done to those taking part and also those involved in planning and presenting the work. The layout and hanging of the work was very impressive too. We thought there were several stand out works which isn't always the case when we visit other exhibitions in Edinburgh. Thanks for the invite. We look forward to the next show in 2022!
This is a very thought provoking exhibition. The people who created it have great courage. Many of the artworks are deeply inspiring and wonderful.
It’s such a pity that it is not open and better promoted in Edinburgh at every other art gallery. Only discovered it by complete chance!
Well done.
Thank you.
Heartfelt, relatable, moving, inspiring!
Wonderful exhibition and the curation of the various pieces has been done in a very thoughtful way, doing justice to the Art. Online exhibition fab too!
Thanks to all involved and for this opportunity meeting people; old and new. Can't wait till next year's 10th anniversary
I lost my son to suicide and 2019. He showed no mental health issues but I must say this exhibition is amazing and has opened my eyes to mental health.
There is such a range of human experience on show. People have been very generous in sharing it all. They are beautiful works, funny ones, heart breaking ones but every one is relatable.
Absolutely breath-taking and moving way to mental health awareness.
Thank you. I was impressed by the creativity and honesty shining from these works.
I love being part of this years show.
Elevating my kitchen table painting taking it by courier to a Summerhall wall. The crisp well-lit professional still photograph of my picture; which I forwarded to an online gallery for another exhibition.
Revisiting half-done pictures and pieces of writing. Having containers for my chaos.
Thank you Pam, and all the organisers 🙏🏽
I think it is great to have a Scottish Exhibition where Mental Health is such a strong feature. It allows artists to express themselves in a safe way in the safe and secure knowledge thay it is free of stigma.
I do feel though that it has limits in that it is physically based in Edinburgh. Like a considerable number of Srt Exhibitions. I think online exhibitions over covid have become more familiar and acceptable but it is never the same as seeing the Art for real.
As this is a Scottish wide exhibition it would be appropriate to have it in situ in different gallaries each year. Our population is spread out across the whole country.
I would also like to see a tour to populations that are always disadvantaged . It is 14 hours on a ferry or a one hour flight from my home on Shetland to Aberdeen.
I think consideration of where Scots live is vital as is considering the fact poverty, especially for those with mental health problems ought to be considered.
We do not all live in Edinburgh or surrounding area.
I feel these issues need serious consideration to encompass equiity fairnness and accessibility
I wish to congratulate all the successful artists in this exhibition. I wish I could view your work. Good luck with your next steps as artists.
