Pazhe (Outside)

Running time: 2:34 mins

PAZHE is a living archive provoked by Quarantine Hotel stories. 2021. The piece speaks to ‘contained safe spaces, which we need liberation from, but that could be, enhanced positive experiences’.

Contained in the womb of the Scottish Highlands landscape, terrific camouflage hills and valleys surround me. I feed off the tangible connections like an umbilical cord to the Zimbabwean Eastern Highlands. I extract the meaning of ‘I’, ‘here’, ‘place’, from the saltwater, explore ecosexuality, found outside, an exotic place despite the dour weather and times.

Thank you Brad, Pumpkin (hens) and Suzuki (cockerel) for being my quirky avatars for freedom. Thank you to Heather Muchamore and Ewan Bush for narrating their imagined experience of Quarantine hotels.

All landscapes filmed in the Scottish Highlands.
