The Mind of Celebrity – painting of Stephen Fry

This painting is part of a series of works titled The Mind of Celebrity. Jamie painted with the theme of mental health and celebrity throughout the winter of 2019/2020, using photographs as a reference. He chose a unique group of celebrities, alive and dead, who have varying conditions of mental ill health. They were first shown in last Mays online Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival. This one is of the actor/comedian Stephen Fry.
Jamie King is an artist living and working in Edinburgh. He has experience of schizophrenia. When he paints the on-going narrative in his mind seems to disappear and a sense of clarity returns.
