Expressing Emotions in Art 2

Following on from the success from the previous Expressing Emotions through Art workshop, four more participants came together on Tuesday (24th November 2020) to take part in the online workshop over Zoom.

Much like the previous workshop, a particular situation and emotion was focused on to explore and express artistically. Prompts were used as aids to help name and describe the emotions felt, before engaging more creatively. For example, we imagined what the colours would be; how vibrant or dull. Or what shapes it could take; how smooth or angular they would be etc.

Time was then taken to further develop our ideas and make art in our own spaces before coming back together to share what we had made.

The artworks became a way to visualise and describe these feelings, giving them a more tangible form, where sometimes words cannot do them justice. We came together to share our art and discuss how we had found the overall process and workshop. Attendees spoke of how helpful it was to be able to feel understood and seen by other people, when sharing.

Below you can see the two of the artworks created.

The first is by Helga Margret Schram.
This art piece was made at the Out of Sight Out of mind - Expression Emotions in Art - Workshop, facilitated by Torin Forest on the 24th November 2020.
It is a mountain spirit, joyfully expanding from their heart and embracing the world with love.

The second is by Anonymous.
