Join the 2024 Exhibition Team
Anyone with experience of mental health issues can join as an Exhibition Volunteer for OOSOOM 2024 at Summerhall. You can help with the Set Up of the exhibition and/or as an Exhibition Invigilator. More details below.
Come along to find out more in person at Summerhall, on Tuesday 10 September, 2-4pm . You will meet organisers, see the exhibition spaces and you can ask questions about what’s involved over a cuppa. Please get in touch if you intend to join.
If you can’t come that day, and are still interested to volunteer, then please get in touch and we can send a bit more information!

Exhibition Volunteer Set Up:
24 Sep – 8 Oct, Mon – Fri
Starting at 10am until 4/5pm
Setting up can involve anything from painting plinths, helping move artworks, putting up posters, helping to prepare the galleries before the launch, and taking a turn making teas if you like. On set up days lunch is provided. There will be members of the whole team there, such as members of the Planning Group, CAPS staff, Summerhall staff and the install team. A times we will all be doing different tasks.
Days are varied, they can be very busy or very quiet, and they can be fun too. It can be satisfying to see the exhibition come together. Having additional people joining the team is so helpful to the exhibition, together we make it all happen!
Sign up for a few day shifts. We start the day together at 10am.
Exhibition Volunteer Invigilating:
9 – 27 Oct, Wed – Sun (Closed Mon & Tues)
Either 10.45am-2.45pm, or 2.30-6.15pm.
Invigilating involves being in the exhibition spaces at opening times. You will hand out information as needed, help to take a tally of visitors, can chat with people as you feel comfortable and help set up or tidy up for the day. Full guidance is given, you won’t be at the exhibition on your own and you can sit down to do this role. Breaks for snacks, tea, coffee, and soft drinks can be had in the Team Room.
This can be a relaxed and interesting way to spend time at the exhibition. It really helps visitor’s experiences if there are people at the exhibition to welcome them.
You can join for a whole day, or a half day. Half shifts are 10.45am-2.45pm, or 2.30-6.15pm.
